John Maresca

John Maresca, Ed.D. is currently the Head Track and Field Coach at Felician University after previously serving as the Head Track and Field Coach at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. He has coached both varsity football and varsity track and field throughout his career. A former high school and collegiate football and track student-athlete, he competed at Carteret High School, New Jersey City University, and Montclair State University. During his athletic career, he earned the Football Coaches Award, was a GMC Sprint Medley Champion, and a scoring member of a State Championship track team, amongst other awards and accomplishments.

He credits his former high school and college football coach, Bill Olear, for teaching the principles that continue to guide both his life and coaching philosophy. "Do What is Right, Do the Very Best You Can, and Exhibit Courage." Those values remain the foundation of the way he approaches athletics and mentorship today.

In addition to football and track, Coach Maresca has an extensive background as both a competitor and coach. As a former USA Boxing athlete and coach, he has been in the corner for professional and world championship boxing matches across 12 states, bringing discipline, toughness, accountability, and mental resilience to every program he leads. His primary goal as a coach is to prepare student-athletes for real life through teaching character, responsibility, leadership, and perseverance through sports.

Coach Maresca has also served as a public and private school administrator and teacher. Maresca is also a published author and adjunct professor.
